The tunnel Borik is part of the highway D1 Mengusovce - Janovce. The tunnel has been constructed from environmental reasons. There will be two parallel tubes with the total length 999 and 993 meters, which both decrease in slope by approx. 1 % between the west and the east portals. In each tunnel tube will be two lanes with a total carriageway width of 7.5 m. The tunnel will be driven using the principles of the New Austrian Tunneling Method. The tunnel was opened to traffic on 4th December 2009.
