The highway section D3 (old designation was D18) Oscadnica - Cadca is 3,44 km long. The beginning of the section is linked to the existing road No. I/11. The construction is built in half profile. The construction started nearby village Oscadnica in April 1996. On this section is 900 m of antinoise walls and 1300 m of abutment walls. The section was opened to traffic on 29th October 2004. The section will significantly improve the traffic connection on the route of the 6th Trans-European Traffic Corridor of the TEN Network. The section Oscadnica - Cadca continues by Cadca bypass, I.stage. Cadca bypass, I.stage is 1,39 km long. It will substitute currently used road I/11, which runs across city Cadca. The construction is built in half profile. There will be 2 bridges with length 135 and 447 meters. The tunnel Horelica (length 605 m) is a part of Cadca bypass. The construction of the bypass began in April 1998. Cadca bypass, I.stage and the tunnel Horelica was opened to traffic on 29th October 2004. The opening of this section will considerably speed up the traffic from Zilina in direction to Cesky Tesin and the Polish border.
